Welcome to Sugar Sweet Farms!

We are a family run business established in 1980 in the beautiful surroundings of Horseshoe Valley, which is between Barrie and Orillia.

We have received numerous awards and ribbons, including awards from the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. We take great pride in our maple syrup to make sure that you, the public, get the best quality and flavour available.

If you are in the area, please stop in for a sample of our syrup.

Sugar Sweet Farms is a member of the OMSP Association (Ontario Maple Syrup Producers’ Association).

Maple Syrup

There are four grades of maple syrup, which is graded by colour. Extra light syrup is the season’s first flow and amber is usually available at the end of the season.

The maple syrup’s flavour depends on the tree, the weather, and the type of soil the tree is growing in. Everything must be kept clean to produce a clean syrup that is not discoloured.

It takes 40 litres of sap to make one litre of syrup. We use a wood fired evaporator to boil the syrup. There are many different evaporators, but we use wood because we like the smoky flavour. Sap usually starts to flow around mid-February and finishes by mid-April.
